MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2012 (10am-12pm)
August Wilson Monologue Competition Informational and Workshop
Where: August Wilson Center

Attendees will be able to submit applications; ask questions and speak with previous participants about their experience. The top three finalists from each city will travel to NYC for the national finals at the August Wilson Theater on Broadway. Point Park University will award the top three Pittsburgh finalists scholarships of $10,000, $7,000, and $5,000. Eligibility: High School Students Grades 9-12.

The New Pittsburgh Courier’s Fab 40 Awards Ceremony
Where: The Fairmont Hotel Downtown

The New Pittsburgh Courier Fab 40 Reception honors 40 of Pittsburgh’s top African-American men and women under 40. “These Fab 40 are the embodiment of determination and dedication to succeed in their field of endeavor. They are today’s promise of a brighter tomorrow,” said Rod Doss, editor & publisher of the Courier.

August Wilson Monologue Competition
Where: The August Wilson Center

Applications are still being accepted for the 2012 Pittsburgh August Wilson Monologue Competition. Eligibility: High School Students Grades 9-12. Actor BILL NUNN will hold free coaching lessons for students from local high schools who wish to participate in the competition. Participation is FREE, but students must first register.

Get Glam for a great cause as we kick off Style & Steel’s signature fundraiser event for Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure. Guests will enjoy Glamtini's; Fashion Shows of both local designers and boutiques; a Silent Auction; Massages; Jewelry Vendors; Entertainment and more. For a limited time, tickets can be purchased online for $15 and will be $20 at the door. A portion of all event proceeds will be donated to the Pittsburgh Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Center.
